General

Eyelid tumors are not uncommon and can be benign or malignant.

The most common malignant eyelid tumors include basal cell carcinoma, sebaceous gland carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis of an eyelid tumor is best made on clinical examination by a clinician experienced with eyelid cancers and simulating tumors.

Photographic confirmation is important.

Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging may be helpful in outlining orbital extension with advanced tumors.

Treatment

The treatment options for eyelid tumors vary according to the tumor and include observation, incisional biopsy, excisional biospy, eyelid reconstruction, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and exenteration.
